SAIL (SUPPORTS TO ACHIEVE INDEPENDENT LIVING)
SAIL is a social, recreational, and life skills program. It is designed for young adults with special needs who have graduated from high school, are able to work competitively in the community, have the ability to participate in group activities independently, and are open to meeting new friends and having fun. SAIL activities can include: recreational group trips (e.g. bowling, movies, plays or sporting events), community outings (e.g., parks, picnics, restaurants), or just hanging out with friends playing games or watching movies.
Please see button below for this month’s SAIL calendar (reservations are required for all events listed, by calling 856-424-1333, Ext. 1410).
Other activities such as Special Olympics sports, discussion groups, Birthright trips to Israel, financial literacy classes, cooking classes, and art classes round out the array of activities. SAIL participants are involved with the selection and planning of activities. There is a yearly registration fee to participate with additional event fees for most activities. All activities are facilitated by professionals.
SOAR (SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES AND RECREATION)
SOAR offers fun, social and recreational activities for adults who require more support in a group setting. SOAR events are led by a professional staff member, along with numerous volunteers who have been trained to work with adults with developmental disabilities. The staffing ratio for all events is approximately 1:3, insuring that each participant gets the attention they need to fully enjoy the activity. Activities are held monthly and generally on Sunday afternoons. For more information on this program, please contact Linda Newman at email@example.com.
SIBSHOPS & ADULT SIBLING GROUPS
The SAIL Program is affiliated with the Special Olympics of New Jersey. Participants compete under the team name, “SAILORS,” in four sports: soccer, floor hockey, basketball, and softball. Games for all sports teams are held throughout Southern New Jersey.
