Volunteering with Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) is a meaningful way to give back while strengthening the fabric of our local community. Each day, our dedicated volunteers help support neighbors in need, build lasting connections, and experience the deep sense of purpose that comes from making a tangible difference.
We currently have several open volunteer opportunities that match different interests, schedules, and skill sets:
Personal Shoppers
For individuals who are unable to leave their homes, even routine errands can be a challenge. Our Personal Shoppers step in to help by purchasing groceries or ordering essential items online. These simple, thoughtful acts ensure that clients have reliable access to the food and supplies they need to live safely and with dignity.
Heavy Lifters
At the Betsy & Peter Fischer Food Pantry, volunteers play a vital role behind the scenes. Strong, able-bodied individuals are needed during weekday business hours to assist with lifting and unpacking large deliveries. This hands-on role helps keep the pantry running smoothly and ensures that food reaches those who need it most.
Volunteer Drivers
Transportation can be a barrier to care, especially for older adults and veterans. JFCS volunteer drivers provide rides to medical appointments and JFCS counseling sessions, helping clients maintain their health, independence, and connection to the community. A single ride can make a profound difference.
Grocery Delivery Helpers
We are always seeking dedicated volunteers to deliver groceries to clients across Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester counties. This role is ideal for those who can commit to multiple shifts and travel to different locations, ensuring that essential items reach households throughout the region.
Volunteers are at the very heart of the JFCS’s mission – bringing compassion, reliability, and humanity to every interaction. If you are interested in making a difference, please complete a brief inquiry form HERE, and a member of the Volunteer Department will follow up with next steps.
By giving time and care, JFCS volunteers help ensure that no one in our community feels alone—and that support is always within reach.
