Miriam was raised in Cranford, New Jersey. She is a graduate of Tufts University and worked as an elementary school teacher in South Brunswick, NJ. She began her volunteer career at Temple Beth Sholom as President of the Home and School Association and from there served on many committees. She was a member of the Temple Beth Sholom Board of Trustees and Co-President of the Temple Beth Sholom Sisterhood. Miriam has been a JFCS Board Member since 2012 and a Vice President since 2016. She has chaired the Outreach and Volunteer, Senior Services, and Stepping Out Committees. Miriam lives in Cherry Hill with her husband, Alan, and has three children, Joanna, Alex, and Amanda.
