For someone experiencing domestic abuse, knowing where to turn can feel overwhelming. Abuse thrives on secrecy and isolation—but no one should face it alone. That’s why Jewish Family & Children’s Service offers SARAH Supports, a safe, confidential, virtual support group for women of all faiths and backgrounds navigating or healing from abuse.
Through this ten-week program, participants share experiences, build connections, and develop practical coping and empowerment skills. Sessions include mindfulness exercises, guided discussion, and tools to strengthen self-esteem, emotional regulation, assertiveness, and healthy boundaries.
Many participants have experienced emotional, financial, sexual, or verbal abuse—and for some, the abuse continues after leaving their abuser, especially while co-parenting. SARAH Supports brings in legal and financial experts to help participants understand their rights, build financial literacy, and reclaim a sense of control. Our mantra is “knowledge is power.”
The impact of SARAH Supports is best expressed in the words of participants: “With great lessons, good tools, and hard work, I’ve learned to focus on the good and cherish those who hold me up.” Another participant shared, “You make me feel normal during a difficult, tumultuous time. I’m grateful to know I’m not alone.”
The Winter 2026 SARAH Supports session begins Tuesday, January 20, is held virtually, and is completely free. For everyone’s safety, participants cannot be living with their abuser.
