Passover is a time of tradition, connection, and family. But when you’ve lost a loved one, the holiday can feel bittersweet, marked by an empty chair at the Seder table. Navigating grief during the holidays can be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone.
Join JFCS on Tuesday, April 1 from 3pm to 4:30pm at the Katz JCC for The Empty Chair at the Seder – A Passover Workshop for Bereaved Jews. Co-facilitated by Reva Farenback-Brateman, JFCS Geriatric Case Manager & Community Educator, and Rabbi Richard F. Address, Director of Jewish Sacred Aging and JFCS Board member, this heartfelt and supportive session will offer insights and strategies to help you honor your loved one’s memory while finding comfort in tradition and community. Topics will include:
-
Creating new traditions to honor those who have passed
-
Managing feelings of isolation and finding support
-
Practical ways to balance grief with celebration
-
Preparing for emotional triggers during the holidays
Whether you are experiencing fresh loss or carrying grief from years past, The Empty Chair will provide a compassionate space to reflect, share, and find meaningful ways to cope. Free and open to all – advance RSVP preferred. For more details or to register, please contact Reva Farenback-Brateman at (856) 424-1333 ext. 1184 or rfbrateman@jfedsnj.org.
