Pride Month Film Screening & Panel Discussion

June 4 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Cherry Hill Celebrates PRIDE! Join Jewish Family & Children’s Service, the Cherry Hill Public Library, and Cherry Hill Township for a free screening of Ruthie and Connie – Every Room in the House. Ruthie Berman and Connie Kurtz were Jewish housewives and mothers in Brooklyn, New York, who met in 1959 and ultimately fell in love. This moving, award winning documentary from director Deborah Dickson shares the story of their relationship and political activism, which led to their successful fight against the New York City Board of Education for domestic partnership benefits, and later to their establishment of a PFLAG chapter for retirees in Florida. Ruthie and Connie were married in New York City on July 26, 2011.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion with members of LGBTQ+ Aging with Pride, a free social support group for individuals 50 and over offered by Jewish Family & Children’s Service.

This event is free and recommended for individuals age 13 and up. Advance RSVP preferred at jfcssnj.org/pride
