Melanie is a Certified Public Accountant who brings over 20 years of accounting and finance experience to her role as Chief Financial Officer of JFCS. She began her professional career in public accounting in Deloitte & Touche’s audit practice in Philadelphia. Melanie managed audit engagements across several industries, specializing in investment company audits within the firm’s global financial services group. She subsequently joined CIGNA Corporation in Philadelphia and successfully completed CIGNA’s financial leadership program. This rotational program allowed Melanie to assume a variety of leadership positions across the organization, which included roles in operational planning, international finance, implementation of internal controls in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, GAAP and statutory financial analysis, and application of lean Six Sigma principles and methodologies to a variety of projects.

As Chief Financial Officer of JFCS, Melanie feels fortunate to have the opportunity to combine her love of accounting and finance with her belief in the agency’s mission to help Jewish families and the community at large successfully meet life’s challenges. Melanie was honored to receive the JFCS Unsung Hero Award in 2017. 

Melanie holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting, both of which she obtained with honors from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She resides in Cherry Hill with her husband, Eric, their two sons, Ryan and Ethan, and their goldendoodle, Kacie.
