How many holiday gift cards is JFCS collecting this year?
We hope to collect and distribute at least 850 gift cards for JFCS clients, including 650 Family Assistance clients, 100 Holocaust Survivors, 55 Older Adults and Veterans, and 45 Disability Services clients.
How much will each client receive?
Our goal is to provide $25 in gift cards for each family member. (e.g., a family of four would receive $100, while a family of six would receive $150 in gift cards).
When will clients receive their gift cards?
Gift cards will be given out in late November, leading up to the holidays.
Can I purchase gift cards on my own?
Yes! We will gladly accept gift cards that you have purchased from Target, Wawa, Walmart, and Shoprite. (Please note that donations of physical gift cards are not tax-deductible.)
When and where can I drop off gift cards that I have purchased?
Please bring your gift cards at the JFCS main office Monday through Thursday from 9am to 2pm. We are located at 1301 Springdale Road, Suite 150 (next to the Katz JCC Early Childhood entrance) in Cherry Hill. (Please don’t wrap the gift cards or seal the envelopes – it’s more efficient for our staff to organize unwrapped cards!)
Can I donate gift cards to other stores like Macy’s, Boscov’s, or Best Buy?
Thank you for your generosity! To ensure we can meet our clients’ most essential needs, we ask that gift card donations be limited to Target, Walmart, ShopRite, and Wawa. These retailers provide access to groceries, household necessities, personal care items, and other everyday essentials, making them the most helpful and frequently requested options for the individuals and families we serve.
Can I donate funds instead?
Yes! We will gladly accept monetary donations, which are fully tax-deductible.
How will my donation be used?
All donated funds will be used to buy food, household essentials, and additional gift cards for JFCS clients.
What is the deadline for donations?
To ensure gift cards reach families in time for the holiday season, we kindly ask that all donations be received by Monday, November 16, 2026. This deadline allows our team time to purchase, organize, and distribute gift cards so recipients can shop for their holiday celebrations and essential needs with dignity and choice. As an organization that serves individuals and families of all faiths and backgrounds, we want to make sure everyone has ample time to prepare for the holidays that are meaningful to them.
Can I purchase a gift card (or make a donation) in someone’s honor?
Yes! There’s an option to designate your donation in honor or memory of a friend or loved one on our online order form. We will send a personalized JFCS tribute card to the person you designate.
Can I donate items like pajamas, toys, or books?
We appreciate your generosity! To give our clients the dignity and joy of choosing gifts for their loved ones, we ask for gift cards rather than physical items.
