The Soups and Sweets program provides culinary training to individuals with special needs, to help prepare them for a career in the hospitality or food industry. Soups and Sweets Participants will learn marketable and transferable skills that will help to prepare them for employment in the food service industry. Training is provided by a professional chef and experienced job coaches. Program includes: 200 hours of food service training completed in 6 months, training in a production commercial kitchen, weekly work readiness classes which addresses issues such as conflict management, sexual harassment, supervision, stress management and team work. |

In addition the ServSafe Food Handler Course and certification exam is offered as part of the training program. Criteria to participate includes the ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to read simple recipes and perform simple fractions; appropriate hygiene and social skills; and be interested and motivated to pursue a career in the food service industry. There is currently no cost to participate in this program.
The Soups and Sweets program also offers a menu of delicious offerings available for purchase by the public. Full menu of items is available online. In addition, cookies can be purchased at the ShopRite on Evesham and Springdale Roads, as well as other delicious desserts and soups at Rockhill Restaurant in Cherry Hill, NJ.
