Veterans Assistance Program

According to the United States Census Bureau, New Jersey has over 350,000 veterans, with almost 25,000 in Camden County alone. Approximately 10% of all JFCS clients are veterans. Many of these clients have difficulty arranging their appointments, getting transportation to medical treatments, and identifying the benefits to which they are entitled. The JFCS Veterans Assistance Program enables local veterans to receive the care and consideration they deserve.

TAKE THE WHEEL

Take the Wheel provides free, volunteer-based rides for veterans from other veterans to medical appointments at local VA facilities and other medical sites. This service is available to Veterans in Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties. A short intake is required to ensure that each applicant is a proper fit for the program. Veterans must have an honorable discharge / produce DD214, the ability to transfer in and out of a car without assistance, and a permanent, verifiable address.

Take the Wheel is sponsored by OceanFirst Foundation and Rothkoff Law Group, with grant funding by the Raymond & Gertrude R. Saltzman Foundation.
