Volunteer Spotlight: Stefanie Jeffreys

Stefanie was raised in Cherry Hill and currently resides in Mount Laurel with her family and her dog, Ahava. Stefanie previously worked in our Disability Services Department’s SAIL program and helped deliver groceries for the Betsy & Peter Fischer Food Pantry. In 2026, Stefanie returned to JFCS to provide volunteer medical rides for older adult and veteran clients.

Stefanie became inspired to volunteer for our transportation programs after a medical procedure of her own temporarily prevented her from being able to drive. Stefanie greatly empathizes with the clients, enjoys talking with them during the rides, and finds great satisfaction in helping others in a way that is both personal and meaningful to her.

Wendy Hernberg, JFCS Transportation Coordinator, praised Stefanie’s immediate response to our increased need for drivers over the summer. “Stefanie generously accepts as many rides as her schedule would allow—sometimes even taking on two clients in a single day. Her willingness to help has made a tremendous difference, ensuring that our clients can get to important medical appointments. We are incredibly grateful for Stefanie’s dedication, compassion, and reliability. She has been a true blessing to our program.”

A Take the Wheel veteran transportation client noted that “it was quite refreshing and delightful to meet Stefanie” and was surprised to meet “someone as young as she is volunteering her precious time to help others.”

Stefanie credits her parents for teaching her the value of Tikkun Olam. “Volunteering has always been part of my family,” recalling childhood experiences of volunteering through her synagogue, at food drives, and during the holidays.

In addition to Stefanie’s longstanding service to JFCS, she also volunteers with JCRC’s Esther Raab Holocaust Museum and Goodwin Education Center and served on the JCRC Board for five years. In her free time, Stefanie enjoys reading, watching sports, and playing mahjong.

Stefanie’s incredible dedication to JFCS and the broader community is very much appreciated. Thank you, Stefanie!
