Winter session of our Grief Support Group begins on January 21

The death of a spouse or life partner is one of the most painful things most people will ever endure. While each one of us experiences grief, mourning, and adjustment in our own unique way, no one should have to go through the process on their own. As part of our commitment to support community members’ mental health and well-being throughout the lifespan, Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) is here to help newly widowed individuals begin to heal and rebuild their lives.

We will be offering a new session of our Grief Support Group this winter. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at 10:30am, in person at the JFCS main office in Cherry Hill. This group has been designed for individuals aged 60 and older who are mourning the loss of a spouse or partner in the last year. Over the course of six biweekly meetings, participants will find safe and supportive space, facilitated by an experienced and caring JFCS social worker, to share their emotions and learn how to integrate the loss into their new reality. There is a $36 registration fee (scholarships available). Advance registration is required by contacting Reva Farenback-Brateman at (856) 424-1333 ext. 1184 or rfbrateman@jfedsnj.org

The Grief Support Group is sponsored by LifeForce Caregivers for the Elderly, with grant funding by the Raymond & Gertrude R. Saltzman Foundation.
