Cara Galob

Meet Cara Galob, Director of Senior Services!

How long have you been working at JFCS? I am fairly new to JFCS – July 31 will be my one-year anniversary!

Tell us about your role. I play a vital role in ensuring that our community’s older adults can live fulfilling and independent lives. I oversee a team that provides a comprehensive range of programs and services, from in-home support to social connections. I work closely with our staff to develop innovative programs and secure funding while directly consulting with seniors and their families to identify their needs and connect them with the appropriate resources. My goal is to empower our clients to age gracefully and with dignity while fostering a strong sense of community where they can thrive.

What brings you joy in your role at JFCS? I love witnessing moments of happiness in the seniors we serve. It has also been a joy to rekindle my passion for community work after 15 years working in major hospital systems. I enjoy fostering self-reliance in our clients and empowering my staff to grow and embrace innovative change. I also love seeing friendships blossom between our clients and volunteers.

What might the community be surprised to learn about you? Folks may be surprised to learn that I am a rescue level PADI and NAUI certified scuba diver!  I have completed more than 110 dives around the world. Some of my favorite dive sites have been Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; and San Pedro, Belize. I also served as a volunteer diver at the Camden Adventure Aquarium from 2022 to 2023.
