Have you ever considered the challenges individuals with disabilities face when seeking meaningful employment? It’s not just about securing a job—it’s about having access to the right skills, training, and support to succeed. That’s where Soups & Sweets, our specialized culinary training program, makes a difference.
Designed to empower individuals with diverse learning needs, Soups & Sweets provides hands-on culinary instruction, job readiness training, and clear pathways to employment. Through this ten-month program, students gain essential skills in a state-of-the-art culinary training facility housed in the Jonathan Sinay Building at 1721 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill.
Participants benefit from hands-on experience in multiple learning environments, including a commercial-grade kitchen, a fully equipped café, and a mini market. Beyond culinary expertise, the program offers:
✅ Financial literacy classes
✅ ServSafe certification opportunities
✅ Internship placements
✅ Post-graduation supported employment
Now, thanks to the generous support of the Truist Foundation, Soups & Sweets is poised for even greater impact. JFCS is thrilled to announce a $70,000 grant from Truist, to be distributed over three years—a powerful testament to the impact of collaborative efforts in building inclusive workforce opportunities. This funding will allow Soups & Sweets to expand its reach, serve more students, and continue evolving to meet the needs of our community.
We are deeply grateful to Truist Foundation for their commitment to fostering an inclusive workforce and strengthening our community. Together, we are creating real-life opportunities and changing lives—one meal, one skill, and one future at a time.
