Volunteer Spotlight: Andrea Garber

Andrea joined JFCS as a volunteer in February of 2019. She is a registered nurse who has dedicated more than 15 years to supporting patients and their families at the end of life as a hospice nurse. Andrea has proven a valuable resource as a Patient Partners medical advocate taking four separate clients, including a Holocaust Survivor, to their doctor’s appointments. Andrea has also developed a beautiful relationship with a client as her Friendly Visitor. The client’s husband shared that “Andrea is a woman of compassion, sensitivity and intelligence, who makes my wife’s world a little brighter with each visit. She is a blessing we will never forget!” Andrea also delivers weekly kosher meals and holiday meals to senior clients, and provides transportation and support for our Hope & Healing program in Vineland. She kindly stepped up to provide transportation to support a displaced Israeli family after the attacks on October 7, 2023. Andrea has also been instrumental in the 5KRun/ 5KWalk 4 Family & Friends with Cancer, which spread awareness and raised more than $650,000 to support both JFCS and the Abramson Cancer Center / Penn Medicine for cancer research. We are fortunate to have Andrea as a volunteer for our agency! Her dedication and passion have made our community a better place.
