Volunteer Spotlight: Mike Perloff

Mike has been volunteering with JFCS for more than ten years. His passion for alleviating hunger initially brought him to our Betsy & Peter Fischer Food Pantry to help sort donations, stock shelves, and assemble grocery sets. When we moved to our new Rhona Fischer Family Assistance Building, he helped purchase and build all the shelves that exist in the Feldman Carriage House today. Each month, Mike solicits and collects toiletries and cash donations from the South Jersey Men’s Club for our pantry. He also provides handyman services to our senior clients, and has helped build furniture for both our Disability Services department and Weinberg Commons. He has been involved with the flagging of veterans’ graves at Crescent Memorial Park annually. In addition to his volunteer work for JFCS, Mike is a past president of the Jewish Community Relations Council, participates as a volunteer for SAR-EL (Volunteers for Israel), and organizes collections for Israel. His recent collections provided much-needed bulletproof vests to the Israeli military.
