Meet Jerry Rothkoff!
Tell us about yourself. I have been married for 27 years to Erica Rothkoff, and we have five children: Liza, Julia, Evan, Gregory, and Aitan. We live in Cherry Hill, and have been members of Congregation Beth El for over 25 years. I founded an elder care law firm, Rothkoff Law Group, in 2000, and I am currently the managing partner. We will celebrate our 25th anniversary in January 2025! We have seven offices in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, working exclusively with older adults and individuals with disabilities, addressing legal issues associated with the aging process. I enjoy great restaurants, wine, Philly sports, and traveling to different countries and places.
When was your first interaction with JFCS? My first interaction was a seminar I offered for residents at the Dubin House around 2005. I spoke for about 20 minutes on estate planning when an announcement came that a bus was leaving for Shoprite in a few minutes. Well, that ended my presentation. After that dubious beginning, my relationship with JFCS strengthened through referring clients to the agency and holding trainings their social work team. My family and I became donors personally and professionally, and ultimately I was invited to join the Board.
Why are the mission and work of JFCS so vital for our community? There are so many members of our community in need, and JFCS is a vital lifeline for many of them. JFCS also helps to show the good in this world when there are so many negative things happening all around us.
What have you learned from being involved with JFCS? I have learned and been rewarded much more than I or my family have given. I have learned the value of giving back to our community. I have also seen how important it is for parents to set an example for their children by modeling the value of giving to others.
